Information – Civic Association
A Civic association is a legal entity (LE) whose legal status is regulated by Act No. 83/1990 Coll. on associating citizens. It is formed by its registration in the Register of Civic Associations of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic. It can carry out activities on its own behalf, i.e. enter into and sign contracts, own property, receive gifts from sponsors or grants, employ people, and other activities stipulated by law and articles of association. A civic association carries out activities on its own responsibility, i.e. it can be sanctioned or fined when carrying out its activities and can also get into litigation.
Who can establish a civic association?
- A civic association can be established by a minimum of three natural persons – citizens
- a condition is reaching full age, i.e. 18 years of age of at least one of the founding persons.
Who is a civic association suitable for?
A civic association is particularly suitable for those citizens interested in associating themselves for a particular purpose, e.g. a foundation of a sports club, shooting club, education, care for people, etc..
Establishing a “Turnkey” Civic Association – Procedure:
- Before establishing a civic association, consultation is necessary, which can either be arranged personally or via email.
- Based on your requirements, we subsequently prepare both the articles of civic association and a registration application, necessary to register an association, which is carried out by the Register of Civic Associations of the Ministry of Interior.
- after registration, we hand over documents on the grounds of which an association has been established, and arrange the allocation of identification number of your organisation at the Statistical Office.

- we will subsequently send you an email, including a list of data necessary to establish a civic association
- within 24 hours after receiving the data, we prepare your documents for signing
- we send the signed documents to the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic.
